I'm Ken Breivik, a photographer based in Columbia, SC.
It started simply enough — I wanted better photos of family vacations and my sons' soccer games. What began as a dad with a camera became something I couldn't put down. Over the years I invested seriously in the craft: classes, lighting, equipment, post-processing — and eventually, professional work spanning portraits, business photography, and video production.
Now I'm in a new season. Retired from full-time work, free to shoot what moves me. These days that means chasing light in places that take your breath away — national parks, state parks, wild places. Nature has become my classroom and my sanctuary.
Portrait work remains close to my heart. There's something irreplaceable about a photograph that captures a person — not just how they look, but who they are.
I take on a limited number of paid shoots each year — portraits, business photography, and short-form video. If you have something in mind, I'd love to hear about it.
I hold a simple philosophy: photographs belong in your hands, not just on a hard drive. Prints matter. A great image deserves to outlast the device it was taken on.
